Founding Engineer
An early-stage generalist who wants to wear many hats. Build across the stack, shape the product, and help define the engineering culture from the ground up.
At a small company, the most valuable engineer is the one who can pick up anything: a bug in the audio pipeline, a new feature on web, a cloud function, a data migration, a design question. We are looking for that person.
About the role
As a founding engineer you will work across the entire product: iOS, web, backend, and the AI layer. You will ship features, fix hard bugs, and help make the calls that define how we build. The role comes with meaningful equity and real ownership. You will not be maintaining someone else system. You will be building the company engineering muscle alongside the founder.
What you'll do
Ship product across the stack, wherever the highest-leverage work is that week. Help set engineering practices, code review standards, and architecture direction. Jump between iOS, web, server, and AI work without losing momentum. Mentor and raise the bar as the team grows. Be a thought partner to the founder on product and strategy, not just a ticket-taker.
What we're looking for
- Several years of full-stack or platform experience, with evidence you can go deep in more than one area.
- A track record of shipping in environments with little structure and high ambiguity.
- Strong fundamentals across at least two of: Swift, TypeScript, backend services, or applied AI.
- Communication skills. You can explain a hard tradeoff in plain language.
- A founder mindset. You care about the outcome, not the job description.
