How to break a goal into tasks

A goal without steps is a wish. Create a goal, add milestones, and convert them into tasks so progress happens one action at a time.

Big goals stall because they are too large to act on in a single sitting. Tase lets you define a goal, break it into milestones at 25, 50, 75, and 100 percent, and turn each milestone into concrete tasks. Progress becomes something you do, not something you think about.

Create a goal

  1. 1

    Open the Goals tab

Tap Goals in the bottom tab bar.
  2. 2

    Tap the plus button

Name your goal (for example, "Launch personal website") and add an optional description.
  3. 3

    Set the timeline

Choose a target date so Tase can pace your milestones across the available time.
  4. 4

    Save

Tap Save. Tase creates the goal with a progress bar starting at zero and four milestone markers.

Add tasks to a goal

Open the goal, tap Add Task, and create tasks that move the goal forward. As you complete tasks, mark the relevant milestone as reached and the progress bar advances. You can update progress manually or tie it to completed tasks.

Start with the 25 percent milestone

The first milestone is the hardest because the goal feels far away. Pick one concrete action for it, something you could finish in under an hour, and complete it today.
Can one task belong to multiple goals?+

A task can be linked to one goal at a time. If a task supports two goals, duplicate it and link each copy to a different goal so progress tracks cleanly.

How is progress calculated?+

Progress is manual by default. You move the slider as you complete milestones. This keeps you in control rather than relying on an automated estimate that may not match reality.

What happens when a goal is complete?+

Completed goals move to an archive but remain visible in your history. Any remaining linked tasks stay in your task list as standalone items.
