Voice mode is not responding

If Tase is not hearing you or the voice orb stays silent, work through these checks: microphone permission, connection, and audio routing.

The Tase TeamTase LLC2 min read

Voice mode depends on three things: microphone access, a stable internet connection, and audio routing. If Tase goes quiet or seems to ignore you, one of those three is almost always the cause. Work through the steps below in order.

Check microphone permission

If Tase never asked for microphone access, or you denied it, voice mode cannot hear you. Open the iOS Settings app, scroll to Tase, and make sure Microphone is toggled on. Then return to Tase and try voice again.

Check your connection

Voice needs an active internet connection to stream audio. If you are on a weak Wi-Fi or cellular signal, responses can stall or drop. Switch networks or move to a stronger signal, then tap the voice button again.

Check audio routing

If you are connected to Bluetooth headphones or CarPlay, audio may be routing somewhere unexpected. Disconnect other audio devices temporarily and try voice through the phone speaker. If it works, the issue is with the other device, not Tase.

Close other audio apps

If another app is actively using the microphone (a call, a recorder, another assistant), Tase voice mode may fail to start. Close that app fully, then retry.
The orb lights up but Tase does not reply. Why?+

Audio is reaching the server but the response is not coming back. This is usually a slow connection. Wait a moment or switch to a stronger network. If it persists, force-quit and reopen the app.

Voice worked yesterday but not today. What changed?+

An iOS update can reset microphone permissions. Check iOS Settings, Tase, Microphone. Also confirm no other app is holding the microphone in the background.

Does voice mode work offline?+

No. Voice streaming requires an internet connection because audio is processed on Tase servers. Offline, you can still type messages and use tasks, finance, and health features.
