Track an expense in seconds
Log spending fast enough that you actually do it every time, and watch your budgets update instantly. Covers quick entry, budget feedback, and editing a mistake.
Expense tracking fails for one reason more than any other: it takes too long. If logging a coffee takes more than a few seconds, you skip it, and skipped expenses turn a budget into a guess. Tase is built so the whole entry fits in a handful of taps.
What you need
Walkthrough: log one expense
- 1
Open the Finance tab
Tap Finance on iPhone, or open tase.app/finance in your browser. The Expenses section is at the top of the view. - 2
Tap add expense
Enter the amount first. Tase focuses the number pad so you can type the total without hunting for the field. - 3
Pick a category
Choose a category like Groceries, Transit, or Dining. This is what your budget rolls up against, so pick the one that matches how you think about the spend. - 4
Add an optional note
A short note like "lunch with Sam" helps later when you are staring at a line item wondering what it was. Skip it if you are in a rush. - 5
Save and check the budget bar
Tap save. If you have a budget for that category, the remaining amount updates instantly on the same screen.
When the budget bar moves
Each expense subtracts from its category budget in real time. You do not need to open a separate report to see where you stand. The bar is right there the moment you save, which is the feedback loop that keeps tracking honest.
Fixing a wrong amount
Incomes work the same way
The Incomes section follows the same flow: amount, source, optional note, save. This keeps your net picture balanced instead of showing only the money going out.
The goal is not perfect bookkeeping. It is a budget you can actually trust because every expense gets logged, and every log takes only seconds.
