Every note-taking system works for about six weeks. Then the folder structure stops matching how you think, search returns forty things that contain the word and none that contain the idea, and you go back to keeping the important part in your head where at least it is findable.
The failure is not organisation. It is that a notes app stores text without understanding any of it, so nothing you saved last year has ever changed an answer you got this year. Recall is semantic. You can ask for the thing you were getting at rather than the phrase you happened to type at the time, which is precisely why keyword search over your own notes has always been so disappointing — the words you would search with today are not the words you used then.
